Description
This half-credit course on The Principles and Precepts of Economics from Paradigm Accelerated Curriculum consists of three chapters, introducing your senior-level student to the world of economics.
In Chapter 1, students will learn about risk, investment, profit, and loss. They will look at the evolution of economic principles origination in the Ancient World and the historical figures who shaped our economic theories and practices.
This chapter will also delve into the Industrial Revolution, Worlds Wars I & II, and the Cold War and how they affected and shaped our economy.
Chapter 2 consists of students exploring the history of Judeo-Christian and European influences that helped form the economy of the United States.
Students gain insight into the close relationships between:
- profit motive
- demands for goods and services
- investment
- wages
- rules of law
- taxes
Your student will get an in-depth look into the economic significance of the U.S. Constitution, Mayflower Compact, and Bill of Rights. They will learn about the impact and development of  the telephone and railroad as well as Welfare, the New Deal, and “trickle-down economics”.
In Chapter 3, students will be discussing contemporary economic issues. The will learn about:
- banking
- creditors
- credit cards
- checking accounts
- debt
- impulse buying
- mortgages
- the stock market
- premiums
- deductibles
- insurances
- gross and net income
- loans
- inflation
- and other important topics
The end of this chapter will look into being a young entrepreneur, the pros and cons of options after graduation (college, career, live at home, dormitories, apartment-sharing, etc).
